{"id":10776,"date":"2014-09-26T11:08:31","date_gmt":"2014-09-26T15:08:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=10776"},"modified":"2014-09-26T11:08:31","modified_gmt":"2014-09-26T15:08:31","slug":"like-i-said","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=10776","title":{"rendered":"Like I said"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newsmax.com\/US\/Michael-Bloomberg-Gun-Control-NRA-National-Rifle-Association\/2014\/09\/26\/id\/597084\/\" target=\"_blank\">NRA agrees<\/a> with me:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;Former New York Mayor <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mikebloomberg.com\" target=\"_blank\">Michael Bloomberg\u2019s<\/a> gun control group is backing candidates in dozens of contests in the midterm elections \u2013 but very few of them are in close races, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2014\/sep\/25\/michael-bloomberg-gun-control-funds-lack-high-prof\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Washington Times reports<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0 The list of safe endorsements by Bloomberg\u2019s group, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.everytown.org\" target=\"_blank\">Everytown for Gun Safety<\/a>, has immediately come under fire from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nra.org\" target=\"_blank\">National Rifle Association<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0 &#8220;It appears as though [Bloomberg] is trying to buy himself some headlines by investing in only safe races,&#8221; said NRA spokesman Andrew Arulanandam &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>That&#8217;s why <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=10764\">I said<\/a> a couple of days ago.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;&#8230; The newspaper also noted that more than half of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.house.gov\" target=\"_blank\">House<\/a> candidates Bloomberg\u2019s group endorsed are in districts where Democrats expect easy victories, suggesting that the group has had problems identifying candidates in tough contests who might reap the rewards of its financial endorsements &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>That&#8217;s pathetic.\u00a0 I assume Bloomberg has shelled out big bucks to political consultants to identify hot races and it appears they have not delivered.\u00a0 If I were Mike I&#8217;d be pissed.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;&#8230; Bloomberg spokesman <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stuloeser.com\" target=\"_blank\">Stu Loeser<\/a> pointed out that only a chunk of the $50 million in Everyday funds will go to campaigns, while the rest will launch the group\u2019s national educational and advocacy programs, as well as in-state gun control programs &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Big deal.\u00a0 He&#8217;s done this a bunch of times before and gotten nothing to show for it.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;&#8230;
