{"id":10585,"date":"2014-08-11T16:45:26","date_gmt":"2014-08-11T20:45:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=10585"},"modified":"2014-08-11T16:46:04","modified_gmt":"2014-08-11T20:46:04","slug":"going-to-hit-the-fan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=10585","title":{"rendered":"Going to hit the fan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Daily News reports <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/news\/politics\/pro-gun-groups-cut-back-contribution-new-york-lawmakers-passage-safe-act-article-1.1898753\" target=\"_blank\">gun money has stopped following<\/a> to Albany because of SAFE:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;National pro-gun groups have largely holstered their checkbooks since the passage of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.andrewcuomo.com\" target=\"_blank\">Gov. Cuomo&#8217;s<\/a> tough gun control law early last year.\u00a0 The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nra.org\" target=\"_blank\">National Rifle Association<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nssf.org\" target=\"_blank\">National Shooting Sports Federation<\/a>, and gun manufacturers have donated just $33,893 to candidates in New York since the beginning of 2013, far less than in previous two-year election cycles, a Daily News review determined.\u00a0 By comparison, the groups gave candidates a more robust $110,000 from 2011 through the end of 2012.\u00a0 That was before state lawmakers passed Cuomo\u2019s controversial SAFE Act in January 2013, just a month after the Newtown, Conn. elementary school massacre &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Someone, however, didn&#8217;t get them memo:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;&#8230; Surprisingly, the biggest donation, $7,500 from Buffalo-based bullet maker <a href=\"http:\/\/www.piercemunitions.com\" target=\"_blank\">Pierce Munitions<\/a>, went to Cuomo in June of last year \u2014 six months after the gun law passed.\u00a0 A company rep did not return a call for comment &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>My\u00a0 guess is that they did it in hopes of getting tax credits or something to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bizjournals.com\/buffalo\/print-edition\/2012\/02\/03\/made-in-wny-with-pierce-munitions.html?page=all\" target=\"_blank\">expand their business<\/a>.\u00a0 That&#8217;s how our <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tammany_Hall\" target=\"_blank\">Tammany<\/a> system works in the state.\u00a0 Whatever the reason this was an exceptionally stupid move on their part.\u00a0 As word gets out, and it will considering the size of the Daily News distribution, they are in for a world of grief.\u00a0 Plus, they make ammo for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tednugent.com\" target=\"_blank\">Ted Nugent<\/a> who is a magnet for bad press.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ssb_list_wrapper\"><li class=\"fb2\" style=\"width:135px\"><iframe src=\"\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/like.php?href=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gunpoliticsny.com%2F%3Fp%3D10585&amp;layout=button_count&amp;action=like&amp;show_faces=false&amp;share=true&amp;width=135&amp;height=21&amp;appId=307091639398582\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"border:none; overflow:hidden;  width:150px; height:21px;\" allowTransparency=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/li><li class=\"twtr\" style=\"width:90px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/share\" class=\"twitter-share-button\" data-url=\"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=10585\">&nbsp;<\/a><script>!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0],p=\/^http:\/.test(d.location)?'http':'https';if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src=p+':\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js';fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document, 'script', 'twitter-wjs');<\/script><\/li><li class=\"gplus\" style=\"width:68px\"><div class=\"g-plusone\" data-size=\"medium\" data-href=\"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=10585\"><\/div><\/li><li class=\"ssb_linkedin\" style=\"width:64px\"><script src=\"\/\/platform.linkedin.com\/in.js\" type=\"text\/javascript\">lang: en_US<\/script><script type=\"IN\/Share\" data-url=\"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=10585\" data-counter=\"right\"><\/script><\/li><\/ul>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Daily News reports gun money has stopped following to Albany because of SAFE: &#8220;National pro-gun groups have largely holstered their checkbooks since the passage of Gov.
