Cuomo\u2019s reputation has been severely damaged and his chances of running for president destroyed by revelations that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2014\/07\/23\/nyregion\/governor-andrew-cuomo-and-the-short-life-of-the-moreland-commission.html\" target=\"_blank\">he interfered<\/a> with the Moreland Commission\u2019s efforts to probe political corruption, influential Democrats have told The Post &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I think he did himself in, at least on the national stage, with the SAFE Act.\u00a0 What Moreland has done is made very public how Andrew (and Albany) operates in private.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;&#8230; The Democrats, who called the disclosures in last week\u2019s New York Times \u201ca political game changer\u201d and a \u201cCuomo nightmare,\u2019\u2019 said the scandal would also provide the first real boost to the campaign of Cuomo\u2019s long-shot Republican rival, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.robastorino.com\" target=\"_blank\">Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino<\/a>.\u00a0 Aides to Astorino said over the weekend that they\u2019ve seen a \u201csignificant uptick\u2019\u2019 in offers of support and campaign fund-raising as a result of the scandal \u2014 with $500,000 contributed over the past few days &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Does this mean <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nj.com\/politics\/index.ssf\/2014\/07\/christie_vs_astorino_new_york_hopeful_slams_governor_for_lack_of_support.html\" target=\"_blank\">Chris Christie is now going to back Astorino<\/a>, like <a href=\"http:\/\/online.wsj.com\/articles\/gop-hopefuls-support-run-by-astorino-against-cuomo-1406252768\" target=\"_blank\">other Republican Governors<\/a> are?\u00a0 I think Christie hurt his own &#8217;16 presidential ambitions by not supporting Astorino, and not just by decling to support a fellow Republican, but because it shows Christie wasn&#8217;t paying much attentional to the politics surrounding a potential opponent.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8221; &#8230; Insiders described Cuomo as \u201chumiliated\u2019\u2019 and \u201cparalyzed\u2019\u2019 and unable to develop a strategy to respond.\u00a0 \u201cIf Cuomo had a good argument to make he\u2019d make it, but he doesn\u2019t know what to do,\u2019\u2019 said a source close to the governor &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I&#8217;m going with him continuing to be an asshole.\u00a0 It&#8217;s gotten him this far in politics.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;&#8230; The collateral damage from Cuomo\u2019s actions to his fellow Democrats is considerable.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ericschneiderman.com\" target=\"_blank\">Attorney General Eric Schneiderman<\/a>, who, like Cuomo, has remained silent, was a central figure in the commission\u2019s probe since he named several of its members and then granted them law-enforcement status.\u00a0 Yet Schneiderman, who said he was being kept regularly informed about the commission\u2019s activities, said not a word about Cuomo\u2019s actions.\u00a0 Either the hyper-political Schneiderman violated his promise to keep in touch with what was occurring \u2014 an unlikely situation \u2014 or he simply kept his mouth shut, insiders at the Capitol agree &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I am included to believe it is the former.\u00a0 Schneiderman and Cuomo <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>hate<\/strong><\/span> each other.\u00a0 It is my understand they hardly ever talk.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;&#8230; Meanwhile, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kathleenrice.com\" target=\"_blank\">Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice<\/a>, a Moreland co-chair and Cuomo political ally who is running for a congressional seat on Long Island, also kept her mouth shut as Cuomo meddled with the commission and has yet to explain why &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>That&#8217;s great if it knocks out her Congressional campaign, but unlike Cuomo and Schneiderman, she would still have her job as Nassau D.A. until &#8217;17.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ssb_list_wrapper\"><li class=\"fb2\" style=\"width:135px\"><iframe src=\"\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/like.php?href=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gunpoliticsny.com%2F%3Fp%3D10527&amp;layout=button_count&amp;action=like&amp;show_faces=false&amp;share=true&amp;width=135&amp;height=21&amp;appId=307091639398582\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"border:none;
