Cuomo&#8217;s new running mate Kathy Hochul<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;Can political placards and lawn signs be returned for a refund?\u00a0 Many left-of-center Democrats are hoping that is what <a href=\"http:\/\/www.andrewcuomo.com\" target=\"_blank\">Gov. Andrew Cuomo<\/a> will be asking in September if they have their way and his choice for a running mate, Erie County\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kathy_Hochul\" target=\"_blank\">Kathy Hochul<\/a>, is defeated in a party primary &#8230; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.law.columbia.edu\/fac\/Tim_Wu\" target=\"_blank\">Tim Wu<\/a>, a Columbia University law professor seeking a primary bid against Hochul, says he believes there is enough uneasiness with Cuomo among liberal and many moderate Democrats that he has a chance to block Hochul\u2019s path to be the governor\u2019s running mate in November &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Yet the media keeps <a href=\"http:\/\/online.wsj.com\/articles\/cuomo-maintains-huge-lead-over-astorino-poll-1404856836\" target=\"_blank\">pushing these obviously bogus polls<\/a> saying Cuomo has a ridiculous lead over <a href=\"http:\/\/www.robastorino.com\" target=\"_blank\">Rob Astorino<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;&#8230; Wu is making much of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nystateofpolitics.com\/2012\/10\/nra-backs-hochul\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hochul\u2019s endorsement by the National Rifle Association<\/a> in her failed 2012 congressional re-election bid &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>What for? <a href=\"http:\/\/nypost.com\/2014\/07\/08\/cuomo-denies-hiding-hochul-but-wont-release-her-schedule\/\" target=\"_blank\">Before Andy put her in hiding<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.buffalonews.com\/city-region\/albany-politics\/hochuls-main-focus-would-be-upstate-economic-development-20140521\" target=\"_blank\">Hochul said she supported SAFE<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;&#8230; Asked if she supported the SAFE Act, Hochul said: \u201cYes ,I do. I believe that it strikes the proper balance.\u00a0 As everybody knows, I\u2019m a strong supporter of the Second Amendment \u2013 and there are people who support the Second Amendment who also believe it\u2019s reasonable to have background checks.\u00a0 What happens is these issues get hijacked by people on the extremes, but the average gun owner from upstate New York understands that we have to be sure that guns are owned responsibly.\u201d\u00a0 The State Legislature passed the SAFE Act in early 2013, after Hochul had lost her congressional re-election bid to <a href=\"http:\/\/chriscollins.house.gov\" target=\"_blank\">Republican Chris Collins<\/a>, a former Erie County executive.\u00a0 Hochul stressed, though, that she supports the measure \u201c100 percent.\u201d &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>That isn&#8217;t what almost everybody upstate, and many downstate, want to hear.\u00a0 It is reasonable to assume Cuomo chose her to provide some upstate representation and saying things like that will not go over well there.\u00a0 Add to that<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.buffalonews.com\/politics_now\/2014\/07\/senator-diaz-hochuls-bronx-meeting-a-deep-dark-secret.html\" target=\"_blank\"> NYC Democrats dislike of her<\/a> and, as I said last week, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=10442\">she was a lose-lose pick by Cuomo<\/a>.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"ssb_list_wrapper\"><li class=\"fb2\" style=\"width:135px\"><iframe src=\"\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/like.php?href=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gunpoliticsny.com%2F%3Fp%3D10473&amp;layout=button_count&amp;action=like&amp;show_faces=false&amp;share=true&amp;width=135&amp;height=21&amp;appId=307091639398582\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"border:none; overflow:hidden;  width:150px; height:21px;\" allowTransparency=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/li><li class=\"twtr\" style=\"width:90px\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/share\" class=\"twitter-share-button\" data-url=\"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=10473\">&nbsp;<\/a><script>!function(d,s,id){var js,fjs=d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0],p=\/^http:\/.test(d.location)?'http':'https';if(!d.getElementById(id)){js=d.createElement(s);js.id=id;js.src=p+':\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js';fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js,fjs);}}(document, 'script', 'twitter-wjs');<\/script><\/li><li class=\"gplus\" style=\"width:68px\"><div class=\"g-plusone\" data-size=\"medium\" data-href=\"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=10473\"><\/div><\/li><li class=\"ssb_linkedin\" style=\"width:64px\"><script src=\"\/\/platform.linkedin.com\/in.js\" type=\"text\/javascript\">lang: en_US<\/script><script type=\"IN\/Share\" data-url=\"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=10473\" data-counter=\"right\"><\/script><\/li><\/ul>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The far Left is attacking Gov.
