Governor Cuomo<\/a> though he would become a hero of the Left, pushing gun control and the “women’s agenda.”\u00a0 The backlash against his gun control pushed the “women’s agenda” off the table.\u00a0 Nevertheless, he did get part of what he wanted and made an effort with the rest so he should get some credit for that, right?<\/p>\n

So, what does the Left think of Andrew<\/a>?<\/p>\n

“For weeks now, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo of New York, a Democrat seeking re-election this year, has been working behind the scenes to soothe misgivings by the leadership of a small but influential political party made up of labor unions and liberal activists who believe his policies have veered too far to the right<\/strong>.\u00a0 Late on Thursday, a co-chairwoman of that group, the Working Families Party<\/a>, said Mr. Cuomo\u2019s efforts were not likely to be successful.\u00a0 \u201cUnless there is a significant new development in the next 24 hours, I don\u2019t expect the state committee to endorse the governor,\u201d said the co-chairwoman, Karen Scharff<\/a>, who as executive director of the liberal advocacy group Citizen Action of New York<\/a> wields considerable influence in the party …”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

So, pushing SAFE had no effect on his base.\u00a0 It just pissed people off and essentially ended his presidential aspirations.<\/p>\n

“… Instead, she said, the party expects to put its support behind an academic with scarcely any chance to defeat Mr. Cuomo: Zephyr Teachout<\/a>, a Fordham law<\/a> professor who was the director of online organizing for Howard Dean\u2019s<\/a> presidential bid …”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Cuomo offered the Left gun control when what they really wanted was high taxes and government cheese.<\/p>\n
