{"id":10193,"date":"2014-05-13T17:35:20","date_gmt":"2014-05-13T21:35:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=10193"},"modified":"2014-05-13T17:35:20","modified_gmt":"2014-05-13T21:35:20","slug":"astorino-moss-ticket","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.gunpoliticsny.com\/?p=10193","title":{"rendered":"Astorino-Moss ticket"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.robastorino.com\" target=\"_blank\">Rob Astorino<\/a> has picked Chemung County Sheriff Christopher Moss to be his running mate.<\/p>\n<p><center><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/95192071\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Moss has been <a href=\"http:\/\/www.timesunion.com\/local\/article\/Sheriffs-Cuomo-asked-for-silence-4532930.php\" target=\"_blank\">a vocal critic<\/a> of the SAFE Act:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;&#8230; Cuomo pushed the sheriffs to stop publicly speaking out against the act, Moss said. &#8220;The governor was of the opinion that the sheriffs around the state should not be interjecting their personal opinions in reference to the law,&#8221; Moss said, adding that Cuomo said sheriffs can&#8217;t do that and enforce the law. One person briefed on the meeting said Cuomo threatened to remove sheriffs from office, a little-used power afforded the state&#8217;s chief executive under the state constitution. Moss would not confirm this.
