Cuomo<\/a> being a national leader on gun control.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/richard-brodsky\/cuomo-lurches-leftright_b_5073031.html\" target=\"_blank\">Exhibit A<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;&#8230; New York&#8217;s progressives are confronting a tough decision. Stick with Cuomo in spite of his economic policies? Split off and run a third-party candidate? Sit in their hands? The decision will fall to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.workingfamiliesparty.org\" target=\"_blank\">New York&#8217;s Working Families Party<\/a> &#8230; Rank-and-file WFPers are increasing unhappy with nominating someone they decry as &#8220;Governor 1 percent.&#8221; &#8230; It&#8217;s not clear where the party is headed &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.timesunion.com\/opinion\/article\/Richard-Brodsky-Cuomo-s-season-of-discontent-5361747.php\" target=\"_blank\">Exhibit B<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;For some, the recent explosion of discontent on the left came as a surprise. Gov. Andrew Cuomo had been an effective and strong liberal on identity and social issues like &#8230; gun restrictions &#8230; What&#8217;s all the fuss? &#8230; Their calculation that the left would settle for social issues was simply wrong &#8230; For progressives and for the WFP this is a turning point.\u00a0 The social issues are important, on the merits and politically.\u00a0 But no movement can walk away from its base and from its founding principles and remain effective &#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/polhudson.lohudblogs.com\/2014\/04\/03\/ny-union-president-democrats-primary-cuomo\/\" target=\"_blank\">Exhibit C<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nydems.org\" target=\"_blank\">state Democratic<\/a> and <\/em><em>Working Families parties should find a <\/em><em>primary challenger to Gov.
