NRA endorsement

NRA endorsed The Donald yesterday.  From what I have seen gun owners are not jumping for joy over the choice between him and Hillary.

Trump’s record on guns can at best be called mixedNRA is making Justice Scalia’s replacement the issue and pitched him as being more likely to nominate pro-gun justices to SCOTUS than Hillary.  That is a hard sell and given Trump’s past political history is very much debatable.

It won’t matter much here in New York anyway.  With the Democrats 2-1 enrollment advantage Hillary should easily win the state.

  1. IMHO pro-gunners actions to demonize all Democrats as anti-gun is a critical political error. NYS Pro-gunners have isolated themselves from more than half the state Electorate as a result. 2A Rights should not, nor has it ever been a “one-party” issue.

Trump: The guy’s steadily raising his acceptance. The SCOTUS list posting was brilliant as it left no doubt in the conservative base. Trump also said he wouldn’t change the GOP Platform @ Cleveland.

Think its time for all Pro-Gunners to come on board for Trump. At present it appears the only the Elite/Establishment ideologues and chair think-tanks are opposing Trump and, they have never spoken for Gunners anyway.

Remember: These same people opposed Reagan.

  2. I opposed him as Ted Cruz would have been orders of magnitude, a better President. But I also believe he would not have won. Trump just might. There is no place to go but Trump anymore, and the discussion is over. One just only needs to think about the alternative to come to that solid conclusion. NRA is not a bunch of stupid guys, anything but. We are all painfully aware of the issues here. No place else to go.

  3. Mark is correct. NRA needs to reach out to Democrats especially in NY. They refuse to do that.

As to Trump, the problem is less with the endorsement itself than it is with making him out to be a great defender of the 2A which he very clearly is not. What NRA should have done is simply said to the members they believe he is a better choice than Hillary and cut out all the BS. Gunnies would understand and accept that. These phony image makeovers are insulting to our intelligence.

  4. As far as the Democrats go, I cannot think of a single instance where we supported one and did not get stabbed in the back after a time. Maybe one upstate Senator (don’t remember the name). Just look at Harry Reid, Kirsten Gillibrand,…….. A+ at one time. Turned out to be total snakes in the grass. I’m not saying don’t try making the best of a bad situation, but I am reluctant to throw support right out of the box.

  5. OHH, and don’t forget Bernie. Also A+ at one time. Better than Hillary, but boy did he change his tune. I do however believe that if he won, he might be a more reliable friend than Trump. He probably would change back to being a big friendly, cause I believe in his heart of hearts, he is a gunny. But, not going to happen.

  6. BTW Jacob, Ca. is about to pass a ban on all semi autos with detachable mags. That MUST comprise an “entire class” of firearms “in common use”. They are in the 9th circuit where I believe we have had at least limited success. Interesting possibility. We’ll see I guess, although as I have said in the past, I have no real faith. They will apply “intermediate scrutiny” or if we win, will play the “en bank” game. They get over everything that way, even having admitted that the AR IS in common use, and it IS a “substantial burden”. I know if Hillary wins we’re fucked. Heller will be outright reversed. That is why we have to go along with Trump now. No choice!

  7. In fact, they are acting with that level of impunity because the courts have sent the message that they can. If Hillary is elected with a Dem/Commie congress, and the courts stay as they are, we will be England / Australia before the end of her first term. Especially the commie states like NY. Maybe even a handgun ban.

  8. When Heller came in 2008, I was glad but not celebrating as much as others. I know the scumbags as well as anybody, and I knew it would be tested, bent, pushed………….. Nikita Cruschev said “we push the stick into the mud to see how far it will go”. That along with other Bolshevik concepts were being taught at NYU back in 1975. I can only imagine what that place is now. The Young Communists rule and you had better vatch vot you say. LOL.
