Takeaway from the Faso-Delgado debate
Polls show CD-19 is clearly in play. Challenger Antonio Delgado has been endorsed by Giffords and although he has been taking care not to mention his position on 2A it did come up during the recent debate with Congressman John Faso.
From the Poughkeepsie Journal:
“… Delgado said he supports new gun-control measures and the Second Amendment rights of residents, “but like any other right, it has its limits.” Faso responded, “I support the 2nd Amendment. Mr. Delgado is clear he does not.” …”
“… Delgado argued that he could bring a valuable outside perspective to Washington, D.C., as someone who grew up middle class in Schenectady and went on to attend Harvard Law School and become a Rhodes scholar. His rejection of contributions from corporate interests, Delgado said, enables him to pursue policies on health care, education, gun control, and environmental issues that are reflective of the residents of the district …”
If gun control was a hot issue in the district he could talk it up in public. Delgado isn’t doing that because he knows it would hurt him. Faso, meanwhile, was using his pork loin win at Kalicoontie Rod & Gun in Facebook ads.
Niagara County IL-042-18
The Niagara County Legislature passed (another) resolution in support of gun rights this week, IL-042-18, specifically opposing the implementation of any sort of Firearms Owner ID (FOID) card and/or firearm owners insurance requirement.
I have seen mention of this floating around the internet recently, but not by either Governor Cuomo or any other elected official so I don’t know where this idea is coming from.

This is as good as it gets for gun owners this election for statewide races.
AD-106 in play
I have received two phone polls, the second about an hour ago, regarding the AD-106 race between incumbent Assemblywoman Didi Barrett and Dutchess County Legislator Will Truitt. That has never happened before. I’ve received plenty of polling over the years for Gubernatorial, Congressional and State Senate races, but never for the State Assembly until now. Based upon the questions asked the polling has to be conducted by Barrett’s people.
I think we have a shot at knocking out an antigun incumbent in this district. There are only a handful of competitive races for state legislature so if you’d like to help Truitt’s campaign, even if you don’t live in the district, click on his name to make a donation.
Against taking guns from abusers
Governor Cuomo is pounding on Marc Molinaro who doesn’t even have enough campaign cash to respond with in-kind advertisements.

Meet the Candidates
I helped organize a Meet the Candidates event for the local town association. The Republican candidates didn’t show up, but two of the three Democrats did including incumbent Assemblywoman Didi Barrett:
And Senate candidate Aaron Gladd:
Gladd briefly touched on guns. He basically reiterated his public positions, that he supports universal background checks. He also said he supported tax credits for purchasing gun safety equipment. There are bills to do that including S-192 and S-5757 that are ostensibly pro-gun, but he isn’t trying to run as a pro-gun candidate.
